Chinatown Market – Capsul

 Chinatown-Market-4

  • Chinatown Market is all about cool colorful cartoon graphics. They recently collaborated with the iconic sitcom, The Simpsons (bet you sang that bit).

    Chinatown-Market

The Simpsons has been on air for more than 30 years, running for 32 seasons, garnering a fanbase ranging from Millennials to Gen Z and everything in between. A cult classic, following the lives of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and townspeople of Springfield, The Simpsons is known for their evergreen catch phrases, guest appearances like Tony Hawk, Kim Kardashian, Eminem, 50 cent, and not to forget, their eerily accurate predictions of the future.

    Chinatown-Market 6
In this collaboration, Chinatown Market pays homage to some of the classic moments and characters of the show through a range of graphic hoodies, t-shirts and sweatshirts.

    Chinatown-Market 1

The Air Bart tee and sweatshirt references the episode where Bart turns from delinquent into star Basketball player.

    Chinatown-Market 5

Another popular reference included in this collab is Hippie Lisa with the tee named after her catch phrase used in the episode “Like, you know, whatever”

    Chinatown-Market 7

Graphics featuring the whole family and Bart Simpson with his signature skateboard are also part of this drop.

If you’ve been following the show since day 1 or a new Simpsons fan or just someone who appreciates sitcom and pop culture classics, this drop is definitely worth checking out.

    Chinatown Market Clothing | Capsul

In the past couple years streetwear has expanded beyond the wardrobe and encapsulates more than just the clothes you wear. Streetwear has been adopted as a lifestyle. In the music one listens to, the places you visit, the art you admire, and surround yourself with.

Culture creators, art fans and hypebeasts have taken the flex game beyond sneakers and tees. Brands like Stussy, The Hundreds and Chinatown Market Clothing, Supreme and Bape have gone beyond the realms of just tshirts and hoodies. Their offerings include collectibles. Some functional, some decorative and some purely for a laugh.

    Chinatown-Market9

Chinatown Market Clothing has done it all- from rugs to candles to footballs to planters to basketball. The LA based streetwear brand has always been known for their bootlegged, funk and bright coloured graphics tees, hoodies and sweatpants.

    Chinatown-Market7

The same vibe and energy extends itself to their collectibles as well. The Chinatown Smiley basketballs are a favourite among streetwear enthusiasts and Hypebeasts.

    Chinatown-Market6

They come in standard basketball size so they are perfect to play with on the court. However what makes them special and unique are the prints and the collaborations. Capsul has a wide range of Chinatown Market basketballs that make for interesting decor and conversation starters.

    Chinatown-Market5

Some of the standout pieces are the Chinatown Market Heat Map Basketball, a part of the Heat Map collection that features a print of the world map in thermal heat colours on tshirts, bucket hat and rug. Another must have is the Chinatown Market x Grateful Dead Basketball that features the famous psychedelic Rock band’s skulls and roses artwork.

      Skatewear | Capsul

Streetwear is the product of various subcultures and the communities built around them. One of the main being skateboarding. Streetwear would be nothing without skateboarding. Some of the major hype and streetwear brands were born from skate culture and made by skateboarders for other skaters. Stussy, Supreme, Palace, Thrasher and HUF Worldwide, RIPNDIP are some of these. Comfy oversized fit and bright easily recognisable graphics are a staple with skatewear. Apart from streetwear brands, some of the most popular sneakers like the Nike Dunks, Nike Blazers, Vans Old Skools were made by skaters or for skateboarding.

Apart from these skateboarding streetwear brands, Skateboard and skate hardware brands like Santa Cruz and Grizzly Grip tape have expanded to clothing and accessories.

Here are the top 5 picks from the curation of Skatewear brands on Capsul:

      1. Thrasher 40 years Neckface tee: This year Thrasher Magazine, the Bible of Skateboarding, turned 40. In celebration of their 40 years anniversary Thrasher dropped a t- shirt featuring artwork by graffiti artist Neckface. The graphic features Neckface’s classic style with a skull in the shape of the number 40 on a skateboard with Neckface’s signature on the side.

      2. Thrasher x Atlantic Drift Tee: Atlantic Drift is a Thrasher series by skate film maker Jacob Elliot-Harris’ which features UK based Skateboarders Tom Knox, Casper Brooker and more giving us their unique take on Skateboarding. Thrasher dropped a capsule collection of Hoodies and tees featuring the Jellyfish which can be seen in the opening credits of “Atlantic Drift”.

      3. HUF Skulls Classic H Tee: Started by Keith Hufnagel as a means to bring cool clothing, hot sneakers and skate decks that Keith came across to during his time travelling. HUF takes skate-wear and elevates it with everything they do. The HUF Skulls Classic H tee puts a spring on the HUF logo tee with a sick skulls graphic on the front and in the back with the text “Downhill From Here”.

      sk3_700x

      4. Grizzly Animal Kingdom Tee: Grizzly griptape is one of the best in the business when it comes to skateboards and hardware and their griptape has some of the coolest graphics. And just like their griptapes Grizzly’s Animal Kingdom Tee features a sick nature inspired print with bears

      5. Grizzly Botanical Pocket Tee: A cool fun tee whether hitting the skatepark or chilling with the crew. The Grizzly Botanical Pocket Tee features a tropical print pocket on a plain black tee with the Grizzly bear popping out of the pocket.

As Thrasher grew in popularity, they expanded beyond just the magazine, making merchandise- t-shirts and hoodies, for skaters and their fans. Some of the original graphic t- shirts included the Thrasher Magazine logo, the famous Thrasher Flames logo and Thrasher Skategoat. But over the years Thrasher Clothing has collaborated with a number of skaters, artists and streetwear brands to bring a wider range of products including jackets, caps, sweatpants, bandanas along with graphic t- shirts and hoodies.
